Item# A-140 STALACTITIC CHALCEDONY (with "Moss" Inclusions) Locality: unknown SIZE: 4 1/2" x 3 3/4 WEIGHT: 1 lb. 6 ounces PRICE: $50.00 SOLD Description: A light green colored chalcedony specimen that features an open pocket with both stalactites and a large, 3" long botryoidal column. The base has been cut and reveals beautiful green mossy filaments as inclusions. Very interesting chalcedony specimen!

PRICE: $125.00 Description: A crystalline quartz "mantle" surrounds the colorful banded agate "core" in this very pretty dryhead specimen. Minor amount of chocolate colored matrix to one side. The piece has a stabilized fracture on the right (see photos), this being common in old stock dryheads. Mirror polished.

PRICE: $145.00 Description: Crystalline quartz and red and orange banding comprise this large, pretty agate specimen. Fine, shallow fractures are present, this being common in old stock dryheads. Mirror polished.

Excellent, large specimen as is, or could be cut into several valuable slabs.

If you are an Agate collector (like us), you probably know that the vast majority of Brazilian Agate mined today is processed into slabs, paperweights and bookends in Asia, Europe and the U.S. This material is almost exclusivly of lower quality, as the higher quality Agates do not take acid dyes or heat treatment as well as the lower-grade ones do. Thus, mining operations in Brazil concentrate on obtaining only commercial material for industrial uses and tourist markets, leaving the collector of FINE quality Agates with little to choose from when it comes to Brazil. Chromatography (color change) is evident in the inner banding. There is a fracture across the piece, this being fairly typical of Dryheads. Specimen will need slight prop for a beautiful upright display.

The specimen weighs well over 3 pounds and measures 4 1/2 inches across by 3 inches deep. There is a small piece of rind missing out of one corner.
