The specimen consists of several sharp, lustrous deep Brown Axinite(Fe) crystals to 1"!! (some incomplete) nestled in a sparkling matrix bed of bright, translucent, twinned Albite crystals. Add fields and fuzzy masses of acicular Actinolite and minor Green Epidote and you have a winning Alpine Cleft mineral assemblage! A choice large cabinet specimen that represents one of the most desirable mineral associations that helped make New Melones Reservoir famous.
