Description:  A museum sized classic! This beautiful high quality Joplin specimen sports huge (to 2+ inches!) lustrous Sphalerite crystals and features Galena as both sharp, simple Octahedra and Octahedra beveled by cube faces and being nicely hoppered as well. The matrix consists of a dense blanket of bladed Pink Dolomite crystals that are sprinkled with hundreds of brassy, lustrous Chalcopyrite crystals. This very large, aesthetic composite example consisting of four well crystallized mineral species represents quite nicely the mineral assemblages once found at the classic mines of Joplin. Ex: Herb and Helen Ramsey Collection.

Roy Hollowell and Bill Hawes did some collecting at this locality during the 1980's and produced and marketed many choice examples, this being a very noteable one.

Description:  From the long closed Alpine cleft deposits at New Melones Reservoir comes this large, beautiful display piece.  The specimen consists of several sharp, lustrous deep Brown Axinite(Fe) crystals to 1"!! (some incomplete) nestled in a sparkling matrix bed of bright, translucent, twinned Albite crystals.  Add fields and fuzzy masses of acicular Actinolite and minor Green Epidote and you have a winning Alpine Cleft mineral assemblage!  A choice large cabinet specimen that represents one of the most desirable mineral associations that helped make New Melones Reservoir famous.
