Description:
Nice,
large Brazilian Agate Nodule that has been polished to a mirror

inches across

corner.
If you are an Agate collector
(like
us), you probably know that the vast majority of Brazilian Agate mined
today is processed into slabs, paperweights and bookends in
Asia,
Europe and the U.S. This material is almost exclusivly of lower
quality, as the higher quality Agates do not take acid dyes or heat
treatment as well as the lower-grade ones do. Thus, mining operations
in Brazil concentrate on obtaining only commercial material for
industrial uses and tourist markets, leaving the collector of FINE
quality Agates with little to choose from when it comes to Brazil. This
Nodule is CHOICE OLD STOCK Purchased in the 1970's by Herb and Helen
Ramsey and represents quite well, what Brazil produced during THAT
period.
